Our PE and sport grant for the year 2016-17 is £8865. This extra government funding is to be spent on improving the teaching of PE and supporting children to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Funding for schools is calculated by the number of primary aged pupils (between the ages of 5 and 11) as at the annual census in January 2016. All schools with 17 or more primary aged pupils will receive a lump sum of £8,000 plus a premium of £5 per pupil.
Our key priorities for this academic year are to increase opportunities for all pupils to engage in extra-curricular and competitive opportunities, and professional development of teaching staff, working alongside sports coach Lee Castle. Other ways the money is spent include:
- £1,000, including membership of HFPSS, to increase competitive activities intra and inter-school
- Further develop broad and engaging PE curriculum
- Professional development of teaching staff, particularly new to QM
