QUEEN’S MANOR gave a warm welcome to our two new school governors with a school assembly focused on British values.
Dr Lindsey MacMillan, an Associate Professor in economics at UCL, Institute of Education, and Helen Rowbottom, policy adviser at the National Housing Federation, have joined the QM Local Governing Body.
They visited the school for their first LGB meeting on Friday which coincided with a Year 5 assembly on British values.
The children spoke about democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, tolerance and respect, using our own personal experiences and belief systems to support our understanding.
Dr MacMillan and Ms Rowbottom were delighted to watch the production and were noticeably moved during the assembly as rewards, including the Kindness Cup, were handed out.
Nick Buckley, vice chair of governors, said: “It was wonderful to see our new governors at the school for the first time. They were absolutely enthralled by the QM values.
“We are delighted to have Dr MacMillan and Ms Rowbottom join the LGB. Not only do they hold exactly the sort of skill sets that we need, but they will also bring dynamism, support and challenge.”
