ELAINE Mort – the driving force behind Friends of Queen’s Manor – has stepped down after six amazing years in the chair.
Elaine, aided by her husband Vic, has revitalised FoQM and helped raise tens of thousands of pounds for the school. Secretary Emma Kennedy also stepped down.
Headteacher Sonja Harrison said: “We are very grateful for all Elaine and Emma have doneover the years and we look forward to seeing them around the school just as much.
“We would also like to take this opportunity to thank Vic, who has been part of every FoQM event—not least the summer BBQ!”
Claire Green has taken over as chair following the FoQM annual meeting.
Mrs Harrison added: “We are incredibly fortunate to have such a wonderful and wonderfully diverse school community at QM. Governors, staff, pupils and their families work extremely hard to ensure that all children can participate in a varied and well-resourced curriculum.
“At the heart of the QM community is Friends of Queen’s Manor. Six years ago Elaine recognised the need for a visible show of support for the school by the families and quickly became the driving force behind revamping the existing PTA.
“Over the years the FoQM team has worked tirelessly to raise funds for the school throughthe summer fair, popcorn sales, Easter egg decorating competitions, tea parties, cake sales, pumpkin-carving competitions and many more fun-packed events.
“The funds have been used to provide enriching experiences for all children in theschool, including trips and visits, discos and much-needed sports kit. The time has come for Elaine to pass the FoQM baton to Claire Green, who is the new committee chair.
“We would like to extend a huge ‘thank you’ to Elaine and also to Emma Kennedy,
who is also stepping down from her current role in FoQM.
“There are already plans afoot for a number of exciting FoQM events this term.”
